Mohammed Rafiq was originally jailed for the murder in 2008 A man has been jailed for a minimum of 22 years for the "execution" of a man in Birmingham in 2003.
Mohammed Sabir Aslam, 22, was shot 16 times at point blank range with an Uzi sub-machine gun on Lozells Road.Mohammed Rafiq, from Kingstanding, carried out a "cool and calculated execution", Birmingham Crown Court heard.
Rafiq, 45, was originally convicted of the murder in 2008, but was granted a retrial last year.
He was arrested in July 2007 after he was found in possession of the murder weapon, along with another sub-machine gun, a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver and 88 rounds of ammunition.
The case had been reopened by the West Midlands Police Major Crime Review Team.
DNA evidence had been found on a cap left at the scene and Rafiq was identified following a separate incident in 2006.
Senior investigating officer Glenn Moss said: "We have worked very hard on this case and are pleased that Rafiq, who is clearly a very dangerous man has once again been found guilty of murder."
