jijiga, August 29, 2009 - Work on the construction of 442 health facilities launched in Somali State at a cost of over 110 million Birr is well in progress, the State's Health Bureau said.
Bureau Deputy Head, Yusuf Mohammed told ENA on Saturday that the health facilities are being constructed in pastoralist's localities and Woreda towns with acute shortage of relevant facilities.
Some 86 health stations and 356 health posts are among the facilities being constructed in different parts of the State.
Up on going fully operational the health facilities are expected to provide service to more than 393,000 people.
Yusuf said the facilities would also increase the State's health service coverage which stands currently at 67 percent to 100 percent.
The bureau has deployed some 29 mobile health groups to some 20 Woredas. Relevant training is also being offered to some 540 pastoralist health extension professionals.
He said the State's government and the Ministry of Health covered the stated sum for the construction of the facilities.
