At least 11 people died when a severe thunderstorm hit the Russian capital Moscow, health officials say.
Hundreds of trees were toppled by the storm, and more than 50 people sought medical help.
Reports say that electrical cables were damaged as Moscow was lashed with high winds, hail and torrential rain.
The winds of up to 110 km/h (70 mph) were described by meteorologists as extremely rare for the city, and caused structural damage to buildings.
If the death toll of 11 is confirmed - and some officials give a lower figure - it would be the deadliest storm in the city for more than 100 years.
The city's investigative committee said that "hurricane winds" had caused trees to fall in various parts of the city, killing five pedestrians.

An elderly man was also killed at a bus stop, it said. TASS news agency says that 69 people have been injured.
Two people were killed after a tree fell onto their summer house, Interfax reported.
Delays had been reported on some metro lines but normal service appears to have resumed.
Tourist Frank Davis, from Newfoundland in Canada, was caught in heavy traffic in Moscow as the "dramatic storm" struck.
"The sky darkened noticeably and the winds were extremely strong.... with debris flying around from all directions," he told the BBC.

Moscow's Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin tweeted: "My condolences to the friends and family of those killed."
Teams were busy trying to clear fallen trees from the city's streets.
"We reacted quickly and are recovering now," said Gulnara Shakirova, a community service assistant.
"Many good trees, not old ones, were brought down. We are trying to remove all the trees before night falls."
Photos circulating on social media show fallen trees blocking roads and a large roadside advertising board crushing parked cars.
A video also shows strong winds tearing apart the roof of a covered tennis centre in Zhulebino district.

New port boosts Djibouti’s dream to be maritime hub

East Africa’s smallest country Djibouti took a step towards realising its dream of becoming a continental maritime cargo hub with the inauguration of its newest and largest port, recently.

The US$590 million (527.5 million euro) facility is part of an infrastructure blitz by the country, sandwiched between Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea, that includes three other ports and a railroad to the capital of landlocked Ethiopia. The Doraleh Multipurpose Port (DMP) can handle thousands of automobiles and millions of tonnes of bulk commodities every year, according to a statement from the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA).

“With this new world-class infrastructure, Djibouti confirms its position as a major trading hub for the continent,” said Aboubaker Omar Hadi, chairman of the DPFZA, which split the cost of the port with Hong Kong-based China Merchant Holding.

Foreign powers including France, the United States and Japan have military bases in Djibouti due to its strategic location along the shipping lane leading to the Suez Canal, while China is also building a facility. President Ismail Omar Guelleh’s administration sees the infrastructure programme as key to turning Djibouti into a “new Dubai” competing for business with overcrowded African ports such as Mombasa in Kenya.

A new livestock port is already open, and two other facilities for shipping salt and potash are due to go into operation next month.

General election 2017: Polls and latest odds tracker

Labour continue to narrow the gap on the Conservatives with one YouGov poll putting them within five points of Theresa May's party.
The closing stages of the election have been rocked by the terror attack at Manchester Arena that killed 22 people on the evening of May 22.
Political campaigning restarted on Friday after being suspended in the wake of the attack. Prior to the attack Labour had been gaining on the Conservatives, albeit with a healthy deficit still left to overcome.
UK General Election 2017 polling
Some early polls had the Tories at almost double the vote share of the Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn, indicating that the most likely outcome would be a landslide victory that would increase her party’s current working majority of 17 in the House of Commons.
Theresa May's lead has dropped from 17.8 points to 10.5 since she called the election on April 18.
While the pollsters still give the Tories a clear lead, the apparent impact of early campaigning will be a concern to party headquarters, and a boost to their rivals.
Some experts had estimated that the Tories would take as many as 56 seats from Labour, leaving them with a 200-seat lead over the official opposition party, aided by Ukip's apparent collapse in popular support over recent weeks.
Conservative polling lead
A healthy Tory majority is still on the cards, but Labour now look set to win more of the vote than they did under Ed Miliband in 2015. Theresa May won't be worried yet, but alarm bells will ring if her lead continues to narrow.

China's 'toilet revolution' targets dirty lavatories

Authorities in China have installed or upgraded over 50,000 lavatories in a "national toilet revolution" designed to clean up filthy public restrooms
China is taking care of a pressing need: Authorities have installed or upgraded over 50,000 lavatories in a "national toilet revolution" designed to clean up filthy public restrooms.
Relief is coming soon, and by the end of the year China expects to have added or upgraded a total of 71,000 toilets, well exceeding a target initially set in 2015.
The plan to fix the country's bad reputation for grimy and smelly facilities has focused on restrooms in tourist sites.
In some places, shiny new toilets have replaced unhygienic open pits that offered little privacy.
More sanitation workers have also been hired.
The National Tourism Administration said in a report on Friday that almost 93 percent of the target has been reached.
"At tourist sites, visitors were angered by insufficient toilets, unhygienic conditions and lack of sanitation workers," state news agency Xinhua said.
Xinhua said a recent survey showed over 80 percent of tourists now find China's toilets satisfactory, compared to 70 percent in 2015.
Facilities tend to be worse in rural areas, where some "were little more than ramshackle shelters surrounded by bunches of cornstalk," Xinhua reported.
Additionally, officials are using technological savvy to crack down on toilet paper theft and put a stop to people smuggling out entire rolls in bulging bags.
Some sites, including the Temple of Heaven and Olympic Green complexes in Beijing, have introduced facial recognition technology to foil paper bandits.
Visitors must approach a machine one by one to get their faces scanned before receiving their portion of loo roll.
If caught stealing or misbehaving people could face a ban from the facilities.
For years already, urinals in China have featured signs encouraging men to stand closer and aim better, advising: "One small step forward, one giant leap for civilisation".

Man, 35, shot dead in front of son, 3, in Sainsbury's supermarket car park in Bangor

Bethany Minelle, News Reporter
A 35-year-old man was shot dead while strapping his son into his car seat in a supermarket car park in Northern Ireland.
Colin Horner was hit several times outside a Sainsbury's supermarket on the outskirts of Bangor in County Down.
The Loyalist from Carrickfergus, County Antrim, had recently relocated to the area after threats to his life.
Calling the murder a "hugely barbaric act" police said it was lucky his three-year-old son, who was "immediately beside his father when he was shot dead in front of him" was not killed or seriously injured as well.
The shooting is believed to have occurred at about 3pm on Sunday in the packed car park, just off the Balloo Link road.
Detectives said Mr Horner was strapping his son into the back seat of his black Nissan Pulsar when he was confronted by a lone attacker who fired at least three shots from a handgun.
The gunman, who had his face covered and was wearing a dark hoody, escaped in a red Ford Mondeo driven by an accomplice.
The vehicle was later found burned out about 10 miles away in the Kerrs Road area.
Investigators said there may have been more than 100 people who witnessed the shooting, including children who were in the car park at the time.
Calling the incident "a completely reckless act" police revealed one stray bullet struck another shopper's car during the attack.
Mr Horner was an associate of fellow Carrickfergus loyalist George 'Geordie' Gilmore, who was shot dead in the town in March.
Mr Gilmore, 44. was killed as part of a long-running feud among rival loyalists in Carrickfergus, and police have confirmed this ongoing conflict will be one of the lines of inquiry into this shooting.
Superintendent Brian Kee, district commander for Ards and North Down District, condemned what he called a "brutal, senseless and horrendous killing" and warned of the psychological trauma the man's son has suffered.
"This cold-blooded murder was carried out in broad daylight in front of families who were out enjoying this Bank Holiday weekend," he said.
"The recklessness of this murder is all too evident. It is beyond belief that the gunman shot the victim when he was out with his son.
"This young boy witnessed everything and he will undoubtedly carry that memory for the rest of his life. We are very lucky that we are not also dealing with the death of this child today."
Alan Chambers, Ulster Unionist MLA in Stormont, who was on the scene 10 minutes after the attack, said: "It was clear to me that we could easily have been dealing with a lot more casualties due to the nature of the attack, in which the victim was hit a number of times."
Northern Ireland secretary of state James Brokenshire condemned the shooting, posting on Twitter: "Deeply disturbed by news of the shooting in the Sainsbury's car park in Bangor. Brutal act of violence that has no place in Northern Ireland."
Police are currently trawling through CCTV footage taken in the car park, and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them, or alternatively to speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
