President Hassan Sh. Mohamoud’s last week visit to the U.S was successful on one hand and a failure on the other.
The president was instrumental in receiving an American recognition for his government. The American move, according to a speech by Mr. Mohamoud to the Somali community in Minnesota, “will be a key to many doors.”

American recognition of the Somali government, though significant, will come in short on other fronts. President Mohamoud was so eager to name a Somali ambassador to the U.S that he asked Abukar Arman, the former special envoy to the U.S, to resign last week.
