CCTV image of Anxiang Du at Birmingham New Street Station The suspect in the murders of a family of four had lost a substantial sum of money in a court ruling made in favour of two of the victims, police revealed.
The announcement came as officers released CCTV of Anxiang Du travelling to Northampton.Jifeng Ding, his wife Helen Chui, and daughters Alice and Xing, were found stabbed in their home in Pioneer Close, Wootton, Northampton, on Sunday night.
CCTV pictured Mr Du, 52, at Northampton Station and boarding a bus to Wootton.
Police said Mr Du, from Coventry, felt he was owed tens of thousands of pounds by Mrs Ding but lost a court battle over their shared business interests on Thursday.
Officers said he had left a suicide note to his family implying it was time to say goodbye.
He is understood to have been a business associate of Ms Chui dealing in herbal remedies.
Mr Du left his home in Coventry at 1030 BST on 29 April.
'Frightened' He was seen arriving at Birmingham New Street Station at 1122 BST and was wearing a white baseball cap, brown waist-length coat, grey trousers, a blue woollen top and black leather shoes.
He was then seen at Northampton Station and boarding a bus to Wootton.
Mr Du has not been seen since arriving at Wootton and Det Supt Glyn Timmins appealed for people who may have seen him to contact officers.
He said more than 60 officers were working on the case and they had received a good community response and would be following up a number of lines of inquiry from across the country.Continued
