MOGADISHU (RBC) Senior Ahlu suna commander Sheikh Hassan Sheikh Abdi (known as Sheikh Hassan Koryoley) has died serious wound in latest battle in Gedo region, Ahlu suna officials confirmed on Thursday.
“Sheikh Hassan was in Nairobi hospital for treatment after serious injury of bullet but he has died late yesterday and was buried in Mombassa,” the official told RBC Radio with a condition of anonymity.
He vowed with great anger that Ahlu suna will take its chance to revenge for their leader.
Local residents said the Ahlu suna commander was wounded during heavy ambush on convoy near Luk district on Monday by Al-Shabab fighters.
Sheikh Hassan Koryoley, also famous preacher has been leading part of central Ahlu suna administration especially in Gedo region and fought against Al-Shabab rebels in that region and took over most of the districts in Gedo.
