Since 2007, the US and EU taxpayers money has directly supported genocide inside Somalia. Make no mistake about it, the United Nations, European Union, USAID, and Scandinavian countries provide funds and resources that were erstwhile meant to help stabilize Somalia- what the UN calls the “worst humanitarian crisis on earth”; yet, the funds are now being used to underpin a growing humanitarian disaster in Mogadishu. Specifically, the Ugandan and Burundian occupation forces- so called AMISOM- have shown an outrageous impunity in killing Somali civilians in Mogadishu. What’s more, AMISOM is now able to bombard both the Somali victims and their children in the same day!
Recently, the AMISOM butchers have begun a pathetic public-relations stunt where after each massacre of civilians in Mogadishu, they release so called “updates” to the international media. These so called “updates” are actually intended to hide the crimes by blaming the equally culpable Shabaab criminal gang. After each “press release” AMISOM usually continues their daily bombardment of innocent civilians. Therefore, no Somali in the world believes the lies coming from AMISOM. It is self-evident that AMISOM mercenaries have completely failed in Somalia and so they now desperately want very much to stop the truth from coming out!
Western Media Aides AMISOM War Crimes in Somalia!
AMISOM war criminals in Somalia make the Pol Pot regime of Cambodia in the 1970s or Slobodan Milosevic’s genocidal campaign in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1990s pale in great comparison. In fact, neither the regimes of Pol Pot or Milosevic where able to count on the so called “Western media” as stalwart allies in their crimes against civilians. Sadly, almost all Western news organizations in the U.S and Europe, including well-known human rights advocates such as Amnesty International and the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands have opted to be utterly silent and complicit in AMISOM’s four years of mass murder. AMISOM has committed atrocities against innocent Somali civilians in Mogadishu. No international organization, news media, or Western government has even slightly condemned AMISOM use of violence or their daily crimes against humanity inside Somalia.
In addition, it has become quite routine for the Western media to overtly omit any mention of AMISOM’s crimes against civilians. In particular, the Western media does not report on AMISOM’s daily bombardments of Mogadishu. Instead, when there is a massive civilian bloodbath (as is currently happening in June 2011), the Western media outlets immediately bring up the Shabaab criminal gang and non-existent “military victories”; thereby, somehow absolving the Uganda-Burundi AMISOM of their direct crimes on Mogadishu civilians!
Ironically, the Shabaab criminals and AMISOM seem to be connected in Western news articles regarding the mass civilian killings in Mogadishu. For example, when events on the ground clearly show an unprovoked and clear-cut AMISOM bombardment of civilians (such as in residential areas, on buses or public spaces), the Western media almost “reflexively” begins to either say “it was a Shabaab attack”, or if this fails to make any sense, they completely ignore all news coming from Somalia. If AMISOM continues the massacres over a number of days, then the Western media switches to superficially talking about the “pirate menace” in Puntland. The end result is always the same: to hide the crimes against the Mogadishu people!
In fact, there is often no analysis about Somalia in Western media. Not a single article ever asks why the Ugandan and Burundian AMISOM are killing innocent Somali civilians in Southern Somalia. Every crime committed by AMISOM is depicted as “normative of Somalia”, so mass murder becomes a daily fixture.
Shabaab Leadership Also Supports AMISOM’s Mogadishu Genocide!
Indeed, the Shabaab criminals are equally responsible for the ongoing massive loss of civilian life in Mogadishu. Actually, the Shabaab gang leaders’ chief among them Ahmed Godane, Abu Mansuur Robow, and Faud Shangole do not come from Mogadishu or its clans. Nor is the Shabaab gang seen as “neutral” in the tribal war of Somalia-they are a clannish faction. As a result, many Mogadishu residents strongly believe the Shabaab leadership is equally involved in orchestrating the daily massacres of civilians along with AMISOM.
However, the current reality remains the Shabaab criminals as a fighting force do not possess any of the lethal heavy weaponry which is used by AMISOM for mass destruction of Mogadishu. It is only AMISOM occupiers who have tanks, BM rockets, long-range missiles, and Howitzer guns. Moreover, it is only AMISOM occupiers who clearly use these weapons of mass destruction against Mogadishu civilians on a daily basis. Therefore, without any uncertainty, the past four years has shown that for AMISOM occupier every single Somali civilian is a target. Consequently, AMISOM the Uganda-Burundi butchers eagerly bomb all civilian areas of Mogadishu, at all times of the day, and even during early morning prayers AMISOM snipers shot randomly at any innocent person walking on Mogadishu’s streets.
For the past two years in particular, AMISOM occupiers have relentlessly bombed the Bakaraa market on a daily and hourly basis. The reason for their heinous attack is AMISOM knows that Bakaraa market is the lifeline of the civilian population of Mogadishu; also, the foreign occupiers would like to kill any pro-peace and capable segment of the Somali population such as businessmen and doctors who are keeping the city going. In addition, the AMISOM occupiers have massacred countless elderly Somali civilians, including the physical handicap persons who are unable to leave their homes.
In May 2011, the AMISOM occupiers shot dead four newlywed Somali couples and also massacred innocent Mogadishu townspeople who were riding on public transport vehicles near the Villa Somalia compound. In fact, the African mercenaries have always targeted Mogadishu’s civilians since 2007. Beginning in 2008, a new focus of the AMISOM occupiers has been hitting Mogadishu’s hospitals where many of the Somali patients are recovering injuries from previous AMISOM shelling of the city. Moreover, AMISOM troops have also mutilated and killed innocent Somali children and orphans (recently massacred well over 100 children just in the first weeks of the June 2011 bombardment of the Medina and Howlwadaag neighborhoods).
As a result, events on the ground show that mass murder is AMISOM’s single and overriding reason for being in Somalia; its vision of “peacekeeping” is to kill Somalis. Ironically, when AMISOM massacres innocent Somali civilians, what dictator Museveni calls “terrorists”, it is actually praised for a “job well done” by none other than the US ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger. Not even Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler could have come up with such an evil enterprise as AMISOM to slaughter civilians on such a mass scale and then say they are fighting Shabaab terrorists!
Dictator Museveni’s kills in front of the world’s eyes!
Just two weeks ago in Kampala, the cowardly Ugandan dictator Museveni sat in front of the world’s media to shamelessly argue that four years of utter military failure in Somalia turned into vicious daily bombardment and mass murder of tens of thousands of Mogadishu civilians, was actually “peacekeeping”. Boasting of the ongoing AMISOM crimes in Somalia, the cowardly Ugandan dictator half-heartedly declared that he had mediated the irrelevant TFG war criminals to continue the bloodbath for another year!
In reality, all that the cowardly dictator Museveni has shown is his bloodthirsty crimes against humanity in Somalia. Four years on, there is not one area that AMISOM has stabilized; instead it has used the Villa Somalia, along with the ICU-built Airport and Seaport as bunkers and bases from which to commit bloody massacres and bombardment of unarmed Somali civilians. Evidently, the international community has no qualms whatsoever about stopping dictator Museveni and Burundian war criminal Pierre Nkurunziza in their ongoing atrocities against all Somali life.
Conclusion: genocide by any other name!
For all intents and purposes, the current AMISOM butchery in Mogadishu 2011 is genocide by any other name. However, AMISOM”s genocide has been made into an exception by the US and EU powers and also media outlets. The result is the killing of Somalis by foreign African mercenaries is removed altogether from international law. Unlike other war zones and conflicts in the world, the International Criminal Court in The Hague has purposefully decided to ignore AMISOM’s crimes in Somalia. Even the Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo— a man who has gained international fame directly from confronting African dictators— has decided not to say a single word about the man-made genocide unfolding in Somalia. When Ocampo came to Nairobi, Kenya on numerous occasions and even though he was less than 45 minutes by plane from the genocide in Mogadishu, he did not utter a single word for the victims of the worst humanitarian catastrophe-genocide today! Though, the Western media maybe silent, Somalia’s victims are not. Somali victims cry out every single day and ask the donor countries of the European Union, the Western media, and US President Obama one basic question: why?
If AMISOM had committed a fraction of their daily crimes in any other country or geographic location on earth (even in violence plagued Africa), the US and EU countries would be quick to call it an outrage of the highest degree, a genocide. However, the same Western powers have made Somalia today an exception to international law regarding genocide.
Therefore, are Somali children only destined from birth to be blown to pieces by Museveni’s AMISOM artillery shells, which are incidentally paid out of the US and EU humanitarian funds for Somalia? Ultimately, history will be the final judge and it will not absolve the world and the Somali Diaspora for what the Ugandan dictator Museveni and his Burundian henchmen so called AMISOM are doing daily to innocent Somali citizens. Somalis everywhere in the world who have lost their loved ones and see clearly should protest the foreign AMISOM war crimes every single minute!
In the end, justice will inevitably prevail and the cowardly AMISOM dictators, the Shabaab criminals, and the TFG warlords and stooges foremost Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Sharif Hassan Aden and Mohamed Farmaajo will all pay a heavy price for their crimes. Let Yoweri Museveni and Pierre Nkurunziza todaycelebrate drinking the blood of innocent Somali victims, but in the future they will face retribution and reckoning for their crimes against humanity in a court of law!
