Your Excellency,
We are certain that you are aware that the above mentioned community is among the most populace communities that reside in and around the Wardheer region. The Abbayoonis community is known among its numerous noble characters for its peace loving and unparalleled respect for the rights of the neighbourhood communities.
The Abbayoonis community was rightly represented in the politics and the administration of the Somali Regional State before Amb. Abdirashid Dulane, one of the sons of Wardheer, assumed the presidency of the Region. Amb. Abdirashid unleashed a targeted crusade against the Abbayoonis community’s constitutional rights by either abolishing or rearranging the districts and peasant organisations the community predominately resides. Through his unholy and draconian twist of the rules and regulations of the state, Amb. Abdirashid at the closing stages of his term in office managed to erase the Abbayoonis community’s elite from all offices of the region, thus reducing the community to near stateless status.
Again another son from Wardheer, Mr. Daud Mohamed Ali, took over the presidency of the regional state and to the surprise of the Abbayoonis community, Mr. Daud picked up the destructive campaign from where Amb. Abdirashid had left. To make a name of his own; he took the Abbayoonis community smash - up campaign to a higher and more dangerous level by arming neighbouring communities. He is remembered in Wardheer region as the man who started and fanned the most devastating civil war the region has ever seen.
Against all odds the Abbayoonis managed to hold their ground at an exorbitant price paid in depletion of human resources and in material losses. Too many people were unnecessarily slaughtered in the civil war orchestrated by Mr. Daud. Soon after he realized that his turf war has failed to uproot the community from Wardheer region, he resorted to imprisoning the leaders and the youth of the targeted community in their hundreds on the unfounded pretext that they were sympathisers to the outlawed ONLF fighters.
Your Excellency,
On behalf of the Reer Sh. Abbayoonis Diaspora (North America, Europe The Middle East, New Zealand and Australia), I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the frank and honest discussion you had with the Wardheer Diaspora community in your recent tour in Europe and North America. Unlike the previous leaders of the regional state, that usually shy away from the truth, your courage to acknowledge the ill treatment that the community suffered in the hands of the state and the unequivocal promise you made to redress the wrongs to the best of your ability appealed to the soul of the community.
In line with our expectations you initiated the intial steps to redress some of our concerns and in doing so, on the one hand, you stopped the illicit imprisonment of the innocent civilians, the daily harassments meted against the community and on the other hand you started releasing some of the wrongfully arrested civilians.
In a nutshell, the gist of this letter is to bring to your attention the controversies created by the new district (Daratoole) which you officially christened it to be shared by the Abbayoonis and the Abraahiin communities that live within the boundaries of the district. Despite your good intentions the officers you delegated to distribute the district offices fairly among the beneficiaries unfortunately let you and the Abbayoonis community down.
The Abbayoonis community was singled out and thrown out for the wolves – they were denied their rightful representation of the district in its totality. The community as whole is requesting you to take urgent corrective actions to reverse the injustice and to bring to book the perpetrators of this immoral and dehumanising human rights crime.
