A six-year-old girl died after she was struck by a car being driven by her mother.
Bolutito Shodipe was struck by the car, which her mother was parking outside West Hounslow tube station, at about 09:40 BST on Wednesday.
Attempts were made to resuscitate her at the scene but she was later pronounced dead at hospital.
A statement from Bolutito's family said they were "coming to terms with this terrible accident".
The family, from Hayes in west London, added: "Bolutito was our eldest daughter and no-one could have asked for a better daughter.
"She was a beautiful, well behaved girl who loved ballet and who will be sorely missed by all of us."
Det Ch Insp Iain Miller, from British Transport Police, said: "It is clear that both mother and child arrived together in the car park and the accident occurred during a parking manoeuvre."
Police are investigating the incident.
