Sata - Zambian blood is too precious to be spilled over Rupiah |
MICHAEL Sata says Zambia does not need an uprising to get rid of President Rupiah Banda’s dubious leadership.
And Sata says President Banda is hallucinating over the recent events in Libya because he knows his dealings with that regime.
Reacting to President Banda’s statement that he incited people on the Copperbelt to demonstrate, Sata said it was clear that the recent events in Egypt and Libya were giving President Banda sleepless nights.
“Let him remain calm. If I wanted to incite people to rise, I could have done it in 2008 when it was clear that they had stolen that election but because I am not blood thirsty, I didn’t. I even went on his hostile ZNBC to appeal for calm so what is he talking about?” he asked.
Sata said President Banda had too many short-cut dealings hence the panic.
“Rupiah went to Egypt and when he returned he claimed to have brought so many Egyptian investors but now there are problems in Egypt. He has also been frequenting Libya since he took over office. He even brought people from Libya whom they have given huge tracks of land in Central Province. But now Libya is on fire so what do you expect from him?” Sata asked. “He will obviously panic and hallucinate because he knows his dealings with Libya. I feel sorry for him because it’s obvious he is not sleeping. No wonder he is shooting from all angles…when he is in Lusaka, it's Sata this, Sata that.
He goes to Lumezi, it's still Sata. He is even saying ‘please Zambians don’t listen to people advocating for streets protests to remove my government.’ Who is advocating for such protests in Zambia?”
Sata said there was no way he could allow the country to be destroyed for selfish interests.
“Zambia is bigger than anything else. Let him not be jittery. But if a leader is in the forefront of getting dubious assistance, what do you expect?” Sata asked. “If it's Rupiah’s intention to get me in on trumped-up charges, he won’t succeed because my hands are so clean even his political consultant knows that.”
Sata said he could never spill innocent blood to get President Banda out of office.
“You look at how people in Libya are dying. Zambian blood is too precious for it to be spilled over Rupiah although Rupiah himself doesn’t care. You can see how he mercilessly killed those young people in Barotseland,” Sata said.
He said he would thrust his campaigns so that President Banda could even hallucinate more.
“We don’t need an uprising or a revolution to get rid of Rupiah’s dubious leadership. The President has been living dubiously and I will continue telling people the truth. I can see he President Banda is saying that he will cry if I win,” Sata said. “Tell him that, in fact, he should just buy more handkerchiefs because this time crying is inevitable for him. Tell him that it doesn’t matter what he does with his consultant, he is gone. This time, the defeat for him will be more disastrous than KK's in 1991.”
Sata said President Banda’s manoeuvres would not work in the forthcoming elections.
“You saw what happened just when we were touching down at Mporokoso airstrip. One of Rupiah’s ministers flew to Mporokoso using a ZAF plane to come and distribute money to voters pretending that they were giving women’s clubs,” said Sata. “He was distributing money just by the airstrip. But when I arrived, because they did not expect me and they were using taxpayer’s money he had to flee. You saw the plane taking off immediately we landed.”
