A DAREDEVIL stuntwoman and her millionaire husband have been killed after their aircraft crashed in the Alps.
Jacquie de Creed, 53, who found fame in the 1980s with her death-defying stunts, was flying with pilot husband James Balmer in their twin-engine aircraft when it ploughed into Mont Agel in the South of France on Friday.
Mother-of-two Jacquie, real name Jacqueline Balmer, made headlines in 1983 when she jumped a specially-prepared 1969 Ford Mustang off a ramp at 140mph, clearing 232ft and one inch. The world record still stands today.
Jacquie and Jim, 68, from Baunton, Glos, were flying their Piper PA-39 from Italy to France in thick fog but lost contact with air traffic at 11.30am.
A extensive sea and air search was launched and the wreckage was found four hours later 2,600ft up the southern slopes of Mount Agel. The cause of the crash has not been confirmed but it is presumed the couple were forced to fly low in the treacherous conditions.
Jacquie was just two weeks away from completing her autobiography Close To The Edge. The couple have two daughters, Charlotte, 22, and Lucy, 19.
Jacquie retired in 2005 to became an actress and drama coach.
