Digger used for Chigwell Shell garage cash machine raid

Thieves used a construction digger to smash into a petrol station in Essex to steal a cash machine containing a five-figure sum of cash.

The raid, involving a stolen digger, took place just after 05:30 GMT at the Shell garage on Manor Road, Chigwell.
After the cash machine was extracted from the wall, the thieves made off in a getaway van toward Ilford.
The driver of the getaway van is described as white, in his late 20s, of slim build, with scruffy short hair.
Forensic examination He was wearing a dark jacket over a white T-shirt.
Investigating officer, Sgt Rob Huddleston, said: "We would ask anyone who recognises the getaway driver from the description provided to contact us.
"This man will be somebody's son or partner and may have thought it unusual for them to be away from home at that time of the morning."
A forensic examination is now being carried out at the scene.
Structural engineers are also visiting the garage in a bid to assess the building's condition and the petrol station is closed.
