Police discovered the three bombs, containing an estimated 70 kg (154 lb) of TNT, in a car parked near a hotel in a village in the region of Kabardino-Balkaria.
"If (the bombs) had gone off, serious casualties... would have been inevitable," RIA news agency quoted a local law enforcement official as saying.Russia faces a long-running Islamist insurgency on its southern rim. On Friday assailants shot five vacationers from the Moscow area, killing three and wounding two. On Saturday a police officer was killed in Nalchik, capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, and the head of a nearby village was shot dead by unknown gunmen.Read More
