Game shows have been around for over seventy years. Some are educational and test your knowledge others are more physical. Listed below you will find the top ten game shows of all time.

1. Wheel of Fortune. The longest running syndicated game show, Wheel of Fortune has been on the air since 1975. Contestants solve word puzzles one letter at a time in an attempt to win both cash and prizes.
2. The Price is Right. On air for almost fifty years, The Price is Right has become an institution that other game shows look up to. With a variety of games to play, the contestants vie against each other for a chance to play a game, then against themselves to win a prize, and finally a duel at the end for the grand prize.
3. Jeopardy. There isn’t anyone out there that cannot hum the ‘thinking song’ from Jeopardy. Known as the ultimate quiz show Jeopardy challenges the contestants by making them form their answer as a question.
4. Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Known for its catch phrase “is that your final answer?” Who Wants to be a Millionaire revolutionized game shows with its lighting effects, music and dramatic pauses. Contestants work their way up to earning larger dollar amounts by answering questions in progressive degrees of difficulty with a way out and backup if they get stuck on a question.
5. Hollywood Squares. It’s a game of tic-tac-toe with a celebrity twist. Contestants have to decide whether or not the answers given by celebrities sitting in the squares are correct or not.
6. Family Feud. Pitting one family against another this show has been a hit since the early 1970’s. Even though it has gone through a multitude of hosts, the show has gained in popularity as the topics have expanded. Contestants go one on one with someone from the other team to see who can get the most popular answer to a set of questions recently polled.
7. Love Connection. Similar to the dating game, Love Connection featured contestants selecting a date from three eligible prospects. The audience voted on who they thought would be the perfect match, and then the contestant revealed who they had chosen. The contestant was then interviewed and provided details of their date, which in some cases, were a complete disaster.
8. Are You Smarter Than a 5^th Grader.  Not an oldie, but definitely a goodie, this somewhat new game show challenges contestants with knowledge gained in the fifth grade and puts them up against fifth grade competitors.
9. Deal or No Deal. This game show’s title has succumbed to pop culture. Contestants eliminate suitcases filled with dollar amounts varying from one dollar to one million dollars trying to leave the one million dollar case unopened.
10. Survivor. Survivor has been on the air for 11 years and featured twenty three seasons in the United States alone and more than fifty countries have their own Survivor series. Contestants are broken out into tribes and are given various challenges to complete. The tribal members vote off contestants in a last man standing effort and in the finale, the last dozen or so members to have been voted off gather together in a jury to decide the fate of the remaining members and who will win the one million dollar prize.
