NATO – “All Options” Available for Post-2014 Afghanistan, including “Zero”: NATO Defence Ministers (meeting in Brussels 26-27.02.2014) formally agreed to plan for all options in post-2014 Afghanistan, including the full pull-out. NATO Secretary General, Rasmussen, specified in a note (27.02.2014 – Brussels) that the possibility of not being able to deploy any troop in Afghanistan after 2014 is due to the continuous delays in finalising an agreement with Kabul (President Karzai demanded that a signature would be done only after the incoming general elections in April 2014). The New York Times (among many others) published an article (link) suggesting that President Obama called Karzai (25.02.2014) to confirm that he had instructed the Pentagon to start planning for a full withdrawal by the end of 2014.
