SOMALIA: Senior Al-Shabab officer dismisses his death

MOGADISHU (RBC) After rumors of his death, Al-Shabab senior commander Sheikh Fu’ad Mohamed Khalaf [known as Fu’ad Shongole] has today dismissed that he was killed in latest fighting in Gedo region.
Mahamed Abdi Kalil, Governor of Gedo region of Somalia government administration claimed that Sheikh Fu’ad Shongole was killed on Monday after bitter fighting near Garbaharey town between Al-Shabab fighters and government forces with the aiding of allied Ahlu suna militia.
“They say that I was killed, you see this is me. I am Fu’ad Khalaf. I am not dead I will die only when Allah takes my soul.” Sheikh Khalaf, senior jihadist told reporters in Mogadishu as he described ‘the enemy’ liked his death.
“They are the enemies like AMISOM, TFG and who claimed as Ahlu suna who distributed that news”. He added.  “I want to make pleasure the Muslim brothers and to dishearten the infidels.”
He further promised to remain resistance against Somalia government and AMISOM troops in Mogadishu.
