According to the Bahrain News Agency, BNA, Dr Al Zayani described the cowardly terrorist attack as a horrific crime which contravenes all ethical and human values.
A Bahraini policeman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a Molotov cocktail attack in Karbabad, one of areas affected by recent disturbances.
According to the Interior Ministry, a police patrol was targeted in the village, north of Manama, at 6pm on Saturday. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
The interior ministry stated that the attack was conducted by a group of "terrorists" who hurled Molotov cocktails at police who were securing the roads and protecting property in the village.
An investigation had been launched to identify the suspects and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani strongly condemned the attack on the security patrol.

He expressed confidence that security agencies would be able to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Dr Al Zayani reiterated GCC states' support to Bahrain in its efforts to combat terrorist organisations and root out their criminal activities which seek to subvert national security and stability.
The GCC chief extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the government and the people of Bahrain and wished the wounded quick recovery.
