KUWAIT CITY, May 28: The Ministry of Interior has turned over 47 prison inmates from Iran, serving sentences in Kuwaiti correctional facilities, to Iranian authorities, a ministry press statement said on Saturday. This step has been taken in implementation of a bilateral agreement for prisoner exchange between Kuwait and Iran, said the statement. It noted Kuwait’s commitment to human rights and in support of doing justice to prison inmates and to their psychological anchoring when they can serve out the remainder of their sentences in a correctional facility in their home countries and close to their families as the case is with the 47 Iranian inmates.
