An Indian vendor is on trial for allegedly molesting two brothers, aged 6 and 8, and gestured inappropriately at them.
The 22-year-old man allegedly touched the two Yemeni boys inappropriately.
He also allegedly gestured inappropriately in front of them and addressed them with bad words.
The case dates back to May 16, 2015, in the corridor of the flat where the boys' parents stay in Ras Al Khor. The worker is being charged in the Court of First Instance with molestation, committing an indecent act in public and insult.
The 8-year-old boy said it was not the first time the defendant got close to them and touched them. The boy said the man would pat him on his head and once he grabbed his hand. He would do the same to his brother. The defendant insulted them and pointed his middle finger at them, the boy claimed.
The boys' father said they were playing in the corridor on that day. "They looked scared as they came inside. They told me that the supermarket delivery man gestured to them in a bad way."
The father added that he went to the supermarket and confronted the accused who admitted to what he did.
"The neighbours' kids said the vendor would do the same to them when he saw them playing with my children," he said.
A police sergeant said they arrested the accused in his accommodation in Sonapour, Al Muhaisnah. "He got scared and began to cry when he saw us. He admitted he touched a boy and said he was sorry and it won't happen again."
