SOMALIA: Ethiopian officials interfere disagreement between Ahlu-Suna leaders

DHUSAMAREB (RBC) Senior leaders from Somalia moderate Islamist group of Ahlu Sunna WalJama’a gathered this week in Ethiopia capital to resolve growing disagreement between them, official said.
“The clerics of Ahlu-Suna met this week in Addis Ababa to discuss their antenatal disagreement and we really succeeded to end all that” Osman Nur (known as Tardhuled) deputy commissioner of Guri’el district of central Somalia region said on Friday.
He said the meeting was hosted by Ethiopian officials and was aimed to end the bitter wrangle which erupted between top Ahlu-Suna leaders.
“By now, the forces of Ahlu-Suna are ready to continue the operations against Al-Shabab militants” he added.
RBC Radio correspondent in central Somalia it is unclear whether other Ahlu Sunna branches in Somalia were really accepting Ethiopia’s mediation.
Ahlu Sunna WalJama’a backed by TFG soldiers where fighting against Al-Shabab but the group had turned down in late months after its top leaders disagreed sharing of top administrative posts.
