A 16-year-old boy in a tent in North Yorkshire was seriously injured when he was run over by a van.
Police were called at 04:00 GMT to a field near the River Ouse in Barlby, Selby, where a group of teenagers were camping.
Officers said a man had threatened to mow down their tent. Most of the group escaped and hid but one boy remained inside the tent and was run over.
North Yorkshire Police said a man has been arrested.
The boy suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to York District Hospital.
Det Ch Insp Heather Pearson said: "This is a disturbing incident which has resulted in a teenager sustaining serious injuries.
"It is vital that we obtain as much information as possible of the events leading up to the incident."
She asked for anyone who saw a white van in the area late on Saturday night or in the early hours of Sunday to contact police.
