Ethiopia Targets 2 Billion US Dollars from Oilseeds, Pulses, Spices Export

Ethiopian government set an ambitious plan of generating 2 billion US dollars annually from the export of oilseeds, pulses and spices after five years by increasing the products volume.

Annual export earning from these products has currently reached 580 million US dollars. This is indicated yesterday evening (February 18, 2011) at the Hilton Addis by the Ethiopian Pulses, Oilseeds and Spices Processors Exporters Association.
According to chairman of the association Musse Yakob (PhD) who spoke at the member exporters’ event, the association can even planned to attain 300 million US dollars more than government’s target.
“If we exert our effort to the maximum, we can export 1.8 million tons of these products ate end of 2015 and generate 2.3 billion USD. As we have been growing our export from 25-30 percent annually over the past years, attaining our target after five years will not be difficult for us,” he said to the members of the association.Read More
