A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a four-year-old girl whose body was found in the grounds of a hospital.
The discovery was made after a woman and a child were reported missing at around 10pm yesterday in Inverness, prompting a major police search.
The woman was found at around 3am today while the body of the youngster was found dead shortly after at the rear of Raigmore Hospital in the Highland city.

A spokesman for the Northern Constabulary said the missing woman and child had been in the hospital but were not patients.
He said: 'The death is being treated as suspicious and police are currently following a positive line of inquiry.
'Cordons are in place in the Raigmore area whilst investigations are carried out, but police would like to stress that Raigmore hospital is fully open.'
A Home Office pathologist is due to carry out a post mortem examination on the girl.
Police and forensic scientists continue to examine the scene in the grounds at the back of the hospital.
