A 72-year-old shopkeeper has been arrested after a man was stabbed during a raid on his shop in Greater Manchester and later died.
Police were called to Shrewsbury Street, Old Trafford, at 09:40 BST on Tuesday after the robbery.A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died a short time later.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said a man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The dead man is believed to have been one of a number of men who tried to rob the shop.
Ch Supt Mark Roberts, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "The investigation is in its early stages and we are still trying to establish the circumstances of what has happened.
"I would like to reassure residents that we do not believe there is any danger to the community and would urge anyone who may have seen something to contact us."
