Battered baby fighting for life in India hospital

A battered two-year-old baby girl admitted to a hospital in the Indian capital, Delhi, by a teenage girl is in a critical condition.
Police have begun an investigation to find out how the baby came to be so severely assaulted.
Doctors say she has serious injuries, including human bite marks all over her body, broken arms and a partially smashed head.
The case has caused outrage in the city.
Doctors treating the baby at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences say they are "yet to come across this degree of abuse of such a small child".
"The baby is on a ventilator and is very sick. She is being constantly monitored by a team of doctors," Dr MC Misra of the hospital's trauma centre told reporters.
"She has suffered from three cardiac arrests, has bite injuries on her face, and her brain status is poor."
Doctors treating the baby say she has a "50% chance of survival" and they had never seen "such cruelty" inflicted on a baby.
A teenage girl brought the baby to the hospital last week but it is not clear whether she is the mother.
