Somalia’s president hails Iran's assistance


Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA – Somalia’s President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed referring to historical ties between Iran and Somalia thanked the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iranian government and nation for helping Somalia’s government.

President Sheikh Ahmed made the remarks in a meeting with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on the sidelines of the 18th African Union Summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa late Sunday.

Foreign Minister Salehi for his part expressed hope that the Muslim nation of Somalia would overcome their problems by relying on the Almighty God and remaining faithful to God.

He pointed out that Islamic Republic of Iran has helped the Somalia to construct two hospitals, seven clinics and 20 refugee camps.

Salehi noted that Iran is ready to help Somalia in the field of agricultural development and solving their other problems.
