A 16-year old girl was raped by three sons of Puntland officials last Monday, February 17, 2013 (read the story in Somali).
The accused rapists are Ahmed Abdi Hirsi ,the son of the Governor of Nugaal—Abdi Hirsi, (Qarjab), Mohamed Ali Hayaan , son of Ali Hayaan−former director of security in Puntland; and Abdirahman Nur Mohamed Garaase− a nephew of Suldaan Garaase, tribal chieftain of Ise Mohamoud. The three are now in custody.
The young woman, who was simply identified by her first name, Fadumo, was attending a wedding when the three perpetrators kidnapped her, took her to the outskirts of Garowe, raped her, and left her in the scene.Continued
