KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: MP Nasser Al-Mari, together with some colleagues, presented a number of proposals to National Assembly recently, of which he stipulated the private schools must not be allowed to increase their fees without justified reasons, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
He called for a ministerial decision that bans the cooperative societies and other public utilities from recruiting expatriate personnel, except for cleaning workers and porters — as part of measures to increase the national manpower and help retirees to meet their family expenditures.
He demanded the concerned authorities to specify KD 1,500 as the minimum wage for Kuwaiti personnel, with monthly increments to cope with annual inflation.
With the issue of loans, Al-Mari proposed that citizens benefiting from the Fund of the Needy must be allowed to borrow money a second time. He also asked for the children of Kuwaiti women and their spouses, as well as GCC citizens and Bedouns who meet the conditions for naturalization to be given Kuwaiti citizenship.
Meanwhile, MP Khalid Al-Adwa said the lawmakers are fulfilling their promises to Kuwaitis by making national development their main concern after it has been suspended for thirty years due to political conflict and escalations.
He also said the lawmakers focus on draft laws such as “Insurance against unemployment” and funding of small projects.
He is expecting fierce war will be waged against the current parliament, and “the lawmakers are aware of this fact, so they will let the troublemakers miss the chance of escalating the political situation in the country”.
He submitted a proposal to establish two government hospitals in Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Al-Ahmadi Governorates to fulfill the needs of citizens, particularly after Adan Hospital has not succeeded in serving the two governorates.
He reiterated that government has the right to seek the assistance of international experts to design the two hospitals in line with the latest medical and construction criteria.
