Mogadishu (RBC) Al-Shabab spokesman Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage [Sheikh Ali Dhere] has confirmed this evening that senior foreign fighter who was in Somalia was killed on Saturday afternoon in the outskirts of Mogadishu, Somalia capital.
“Bilal Al Birjawi, a great Mujahid brother who was in Somalia for a long time was killed today” Sheikh Ali Dhere announced in a press conference in Elasha location.
He said that Al-Birjawi, a Lebanon nationality was hit by air bombardment from suspected drone at KM 13 location.
“We will revenge for him. We will not sit” Sheikh Ali Dhere vowed.
RBC Radio correspondent in Mogadishu says heavy explosion was heard in KM 13 location on Agoye corridor.
Eye witness told RBC Radio that three bombs hit the area which crashed down one vehicle.
Al-Birjewi has been in Somalia since 2006 and was helping Al-Shabab fighters in the battle against Somali government and the African Union forces in Mogadishu. He was once wounded in Lower Jubba region last year and recieved treatment in Kenya.
