Coventry feet up pregnancy mum Donna Kelly back home
Donna Kelly spent 24 hours a day lying on her back, getting out of bed only to visit the bathroom A Coventry woman who had to spend three months in bed with her feet higher than her head to avoid having a miscarriage has returned home after giving birth to a baby girl.
A scan showed Donna Kelly, 29, was in danger of having a third miscarriage.A specialist at University Hospital Coventry advised using gravity to reduce the risk.
Mrs Kelly said: "I felt sick at first and had constant headaches but I soon got used to it."
Baby Amelia was born 34 weeks into Mrs Kelly's pregnancy in August and weighed only 4lbs 15oz (2.24kg).
Mrs Kelly was referred to the hospital when a scan at 20 weeks revealed she was at high risk of a late miscarriage.
Rare condition
She had suffered two late miscarriages since giving birth to her son Joshua in 2007.

An expert in recurrent miscarriages at the hospital, Professor Siobhan Quenby, advised Mrs Kelly to lie on her back with her head towards the floor and her feet towards the ceiling for three months.
Professor Quenby said: "Donna's condition is rare and while the treatment may sound strange, it is very effective." Mrs Kelly spent 24 hours a day lying on her back, getting out of bed only to visit the bathroom.
She said: "The hardest thing was spending so much time away from Joshua but three months away from him for the sake of giving him a sibling is worth it."
