Leaders of Somalia's two main anti-government groups have failed to reach agreement in uniting their forces against the fragile UN-backed government of President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Radio Garowe reports.
Abdi Mohamud Godane, aka 'Abu Zubeir,' the head of the Al-Shabaab fighters led his team in meeting with Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys of Hizbul Islam, in the capital, Mogadishu.
Senior Al-Shabab and Hizbul Islam officials said on Monday that for the last two weeks, the leaders discussed forging a united front against the African Union troops and the government in Mogadishu but failed to allow their fighters unite and jointly wage the war under one umbrella.Read More
