The road where five people died in a crash between a car and a lorry has reopened as investigations into the accident continue.
The victims, all thought to be from the Durham area, were travelling in a Nissan Primera in Laceby, near Grimsby, when it was in collision with a lorry.
Three people died at the scene. Two others died in Grimsby's Diana Princess of Wales Hospital a short time later.
The driver of the lorry sustained minor injuries, Humberside Police said.
Supt Tracy Bradley said it was "far too early to speculate" what had caused the crash that happened at about 12:30 BST on Friday.
"Our thoughts go out to the friends and relatives of those who lost their lives at this sad time," she said.
The Grimsby stretch of the A18 featured in a BBC television programme, Britain's Most Dangerous Roads, in 2011.
The programme claimed the A18 at Grimsby was 25 times more dangerous than the average British motorway, with 20 crashes in the previous three years.
It was also found to be the UK's highest-risk stretch of road for car drivers in a nationwide survey conducted by the Road Safety Foundation in 2010.
