19 Civilians killed in Gunagado, Ogaden

Ethiopian soldiers and its associated Militia killed 19 civilians in Gunagado town, which is part of Degahbour province. According to local eyewitnesses majority of these victims were Ethiopian military custody for the past few months.

The bodies of many of the civilians who were killed by the Woyane (Ethiopian) military personnel and its associated militia in the area have been found in the outskirts of the city showing severe signs of tortured. Some of the deceased were hanged from trees.

So far our reporters in the area were able to compile an initial list of the deceased that consists of 6 individuals. Their names include:
  1. Aar Cabdullaahi Cabdi Barre
  2. Axmed Maxamuud Uur-Maax (Qoordheere)
  3. Camaje Ismaaciil Aw-Nuur
  4. The Son of Sheekh Irshaad
  5. The Som of Cawl
  6. Macalin Awliyo Yuusuf
These mass murder act, although not new, appear coordinate and has intensified since the dictator, Meles Zenawi, vowed to punish the Ogaden people for supporting the ONLF who are struggling for the rights of the Ogaden people to a genuine self-determination.

Locals attribute to the increased mass murder act as the ‘only’ way the Woyane (Ethiopian) militias could retaliate against the recent heavy military losses they have sustained in the hands of the Ogaden National Liberation Army (ONLA) personnel.
Human rights organizations accuse the Ethiopian soldiers of violating the human rights by harassing the people in the Ogaden region.
