A six-year old boy whose torso was found mutilated in The River Thames in Southern England 10 years ago has been identified as a Nigerian.
The tragic boy, whose body was found with no head or limb, has been named as Ikpomwosa and a picture of him was released.
Detectives believe the boy, who they called “Adam”, was smuggled to London to be butchered in a twisted West African religious ceremony.
His identity was revealed after a TV crew tracked down a woman who used to care for him in Germany, after his parents were deported home to Nigeria.
Mum-of-two Joyce Osiagede, now also back in Nigeria, told ITV London Tonight she handed the youngster to a man named Bawa who took him to London.
Former Detective Will O’Reilly, who investigated the matter in 2001 said: “It’s a major breakthrough.”
