Somali parliament says presidential election would be held in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU – The transitional parliament of Somalia has formally announced on Thursday that the presidential election would be held before the following August 2011which is the end of the TFG’s term in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Awad Ahmed Ashara, head of the information affairs of the transitional parliament of Somalia has held press conference in the Somali capital Mogadishu and read an statement from the office of the speaker of the parliament Sharif Hassan Sheik Aden saying that the presidential election of the government would be held in Mogadishu before August 2011.
Mr. Awad said that there would be an electing committee and commission that would include representatives from the international community as United Nations and the African Union.
The announcement of the transitional parliament over the presidential election comes as there had been heavy clashes between the transitional government troops backing by AMISOM and Al-shabab in Mogadishu recently as there is also political disagreement between the Somali president and the speaker of the parliament.
