Mogadishu (RBC) Senior Al Shabab officer has today called all local and foreign Jihadists to join new training camps which they opened in Lower Shabelle region in the southern part of Somalia.
“We call all the youth to join voluntarily into the training camps we set up in the region”, said Sheikh Mohammed Abu Abdullah, the governor of Al-Shabab owned administration in lower Shabelle addressed today in Merka district some 90-km south of the Somalia capital, Mogadishu.
He said that these camps will be trained new recruiters to participate the ongoing fighting in Mogadishu where the Transitional Federal Government troops and Amisom are batting against Al Shabab.
One the main training camp of Al Shabab is located in Laanta Buro village at the periphery of Afgoye town, nearly 40 KM south of Mogadishu.
Hundreds of young teenagers were collected from different locations in the region to join into the new camps. Sources confirm RBC Radio that some of the new recruiters were forcibly collected from their families.
“You will be taught how to fight against the enemy, how to shoot”, Abu Abdullah added.
Al Shabab’s training camps not only provide their fighters the use of the weapons, but also they offer courses on bomb construction that are taught by Al Qaeda members in Somalia.
Several parents told RBC Radio that they have secretly moved away their children after Al Shabab rebel group begun to convince the teenagers living in the areas under their control. Al Shabab also ordered schools to be closed while the students were encouraged to fight for Al Shabab.
Since last month Al Shabab called off large campaign towards new recruiters after they lost the control of several locations in the capital and many districts in the southern regions of Somalia where the government forces backing by Amisom troops took over them.
