Top official of Somali rebel group reportedly hiding in Sudan

Mogadishu, Somalia Feb. 26, 2010 (APA) - The defense chief of a Somali Islamist rebel group- Hezbal, Islam Sheik Muse Abdi Arrale is said to be hiding in Sudanese capital Khartoum, APA learns here on Friday from Somali nationals living in Sudan.
Arrale’s reappearance in Sudan comes nearly two months after he disappeared and his whereabouts have not been known since then, but speculations were rife that he left the group and was believed to be hiding in one of the neighboring states.
According to Somali nationals living In Sudan the disappeared Islamist defense chief has been spotted in Khartoum this week.
“I have seen Sheik Muse Arrale here in Khartoum twice this week, I know him very well,” Mohamed Ahmed Yusuf, a Somali university student in Khartoum told APA by telephone.

Sheik Arrale is accused of being behind the kidnapping of two French security officers who were snatched from Mogadishu hotel in mid July last year.
One of the kidnapped security agents, Marc Obriere escaped a month later from his abductors, while the other one is still in the hands of the Al-qaeda proxy in Somalia- Al-Shabab militants who are holding him in an undisclosed location in southern Somalia.
