Somalia: Hisbul Islam Recaptures Beledweyn after Fresh Fighting

Beledweyn, (RBC Radio) The armed rebels of Hisbul Islam group has said they have recaptured Beledweyn town, after fresh fighting erupts early on Friday.

The fighting started between the two rival groups of Hisbul Islam and Ahlu Sunna causing heavy casualties, witnesses told RBC Radio.

RBC Radio correspondent reports that the fighting which had been fierce since early on Friday had spread into the town of Beledweyn where many of the residents fled after weeks of battle.

Belweyne, the provincial capital of Hiran had been battle ground since late early this month after Ahlu Sunna organization; a moderate Islamic group took over the control of the town.

The situation in the town is reportedly calm today while local NGOs reported that 12,000 people had fled from the town which estimates eighty percent of the town’s residents since the beginning of the fighting between the two sides, early January.
