Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has been in power for 25 years and he is seeking a new mandate at next month's elections.
The Ugandan constitution places no limits on presidential terms.
Mr Museveni will be fighting it out with the man who has tried to unseat him in the last two elections, Kizza Besigye and a number of other candidates.
The president is a strong believer in regional integration and would like to see the formation of an East African political federation.
BBC Network Africa's Joseph Warungu went to speak to President Museveni at his Mbarara home in Western Uganda.
He started by asking the President what his chances are in February's election.
