Blast kills six children in central Somalia

At least six children of same family are killed in landmine explosion that rocked a village in central Somalia region of Galgadud.

The landmine went off when the children came into contact, killing them on the spot.

According to Hareri Hasan Bare, the administrator of Balanbal town, the parents of the children survived the blast.

“The dead are children, four boys and a girl from the same family,” he said.

Bare added that the blast has also killed several animals belonging to the family.

Meanwhile, Somalia’s Ahul-Sunnah Wal-Jamaa that controls the region has banned wearing of women veils for security reasons.

The group has also banned cars with tainted windows.

This comes as Ahlu-Sunnah Wal-jamaa prepares to hold meeting over the formation of a regional administration.
