Two lawmakers wounded in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—Two Somali lawmakers have been injured in a hotel near the presidential palace in Mogadishu after a bomb was hurled to their hotel, witnesses say.

The bomb was thrown at Muna Hotel near Somalia’s presidential palace known as Villa Somalia on Friday evening.

Government soldiers have reached the area and made search operations. One of the two parliamentarians is seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the bomb attack yet. The incident comes as the Somali parliament speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe called for the legislators to return to the capital to attend a parliament session in Mogadishu soon.

Separately, two civilians have been killed and five others have been wounded after stray mortar shell landed in Karan district in north Mogadishu on Friday afternoon.
