Somalia: Who was behind the suicide attack in Mogadishu?

MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—When a man disguised and dressed as a woman blew himself up at a University Graduation Ceremony at Hotel Shamo in Mogadishu and killed about thirty people including ministers, journalists, and doctors, many people expected that al Shabaab would claim the responsibility, but they denied a day later.

All Somali people except, the narrow minded al Shabaab supporters, were shocked and became angry about the callous action which massacred the backbone of the Somali society.

The international community has strongly condemned the action, but the question is that who was behind the suicide attack.

News that Radio Mogadishu, the state radio broadcasted suggest that al Shabaab was behind the suicide attack. The information says al Shabaab brought the man who exploded in the hotel from the bush prepared him and sent to hotel, where he was among the guests two days before the ceremony.

Al Shabaab was thinking that the president and the prime minister would attend the ceremony and that is why they were more interested to explode the University Graduation Ceremony, the information reveals.

Somalia’s former president, Abdikasim Salad Hassan, said those who killed the security minister in Beledweyne were behind Mogadishu suicide attack.

Al Shabaab claimed the responsibility of the suicide attack which killed, Omar Hashi Aden, the late security minister of the Somali government and about a hundred and thirty people in Beledweyne in June this year.

The Somali people were disillusioned about the Islamist groups of Somalia when they supported their fighting against the warlords in Mogadishu in 2006.

Now it is the time that the Somali people would stand against the cruel Islamist groups who are massacring the doctors, intellectuals, and the journalists.

These groups are famous for to assassinate the journalists and Intellectuals and then deny.

Al Shabaab is famous for to recruit former warlord militias, thieves and school drop outs to achieve their hidden agendas.

Somali people are hundred percent Sunni Muslims and have been practicing in moderate Islam since the begging of the Islam, but these groups who learnt in Saudi Arabia in 1980s misinterpreted the Islamic religion and came up with their intolerable interpretation.

There is no doubt that al Shabaab is the al Qaeda reprehensive in Somalia. Many people are predicting that the group is planning to make suicide attacks in mosques and in markets as they did in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan if they are not liberated from the country before it is too late.
