Tense Situation Between Al Shabaab, Local Militias

Bu'ale — Reports from Bu'ale town, the regional capital of middle Jubba region in southern Somalia on Thursday morning suggest that tense situation and military movements exist between Al shabaab fighters and local clan militias.

Local residents told Shabelle Media Network that Al shabaab had deployed in parts of Bu'ale in an attempt to fight with local cal militias who spurned to heed their strict orders.

A resident, who asked his name not be used in the media, has told Shabelle locals faced very horrible and fearful conditions as the fighters from Al shabaab and Local militias are on the verge to clash each other in the village Ridale, just 5 KM from Bu'ale district in middle Jubba region in southern Somalia.

The tense situation broke out after Al shabaab banned local businessmen from cutting wood to burn and change it charcoal.

Al shabaab fighters in the region and local clan militias are taking on each other.

It is unpredictable the tense situation may spark new waves of clashes between al shabaab and Charcoal traders.

Local inhabitants said that Al shabaab authorities have already banned cutting woods with aim of burning it and changing it to charcoals.

Al-Shabab didn't ban, but allowed group of their business associates to cut tree around Bu'aale Region. This made the people from Xagar and Bu'aale to protest the Al-Shabab's deforestation plan in the region.
