SOMALIA: Galmudug court rules death sentence on manslaughter

Galkaio (RBC) A court in south of Galkaio of Galmudug state in Somalia has sentenced on Monday death penalty on a man who last month murdered a businessman in Hobyo district of Mudug region.
Mohammed Dahir Mohammed was found guilty of manslaughter committed in the coastal town of Hobyo on 20th Feb and was sentenced on death penalty.
The judge of Galmudug’s first state court Sheikh Ali Mohamed Elmi has said that the accused man committed the guilty and also eyewitnesses were brought before the court for proof.
The judge also said that the family of the assassinated trader who was called “Mohamed Abdi Jama” accepted the decision of the court.
Monday’s trial was held in a public gathering and also both families of the murderers were witnessing.
The trial to be first one that Galmudug court rules and it is seen a trial which can reduce illegal killing always happens in the region.
Galmudug which is a secular and decentralized regional administration is exercising relative peace despite armed clan militia are still on the ground, besides the pirates who have their main bases in the region.
