SOMALIA: PM Says another ninety days needed to secure the capital

Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia’s Prime Minister Mohamed Abdulahi Mohamed ‘Farmajo’ has vowed that his government soldiers will be able to eradicate the danger of Al-Qaeda allied group of Al Shabab if the government gains all its needs.
“I am hopeful, we can eliminate all the threats from Al Shabab and the foreign elements in our country if we are given full support from both international community and the Somali people”, the prime minister said in Mogadishu.
He said that the past 100 days of his cabinet more security achievements were made the government forces with the backing of African Union troops [AMISOM], as he mentioned another ninety days needed.
“The cabinet and the government departments made their strong efforts, and you can see all the advance made in the capital, so now I can say the government will have another 90 days to tackle Shabab fighters”, prime minister Farmajo added.
He said that the battle against Al Shabab rebel group won’t bring to an end till anti-peace elements will be swept from the whole nation and noted that the Somali people are ready to stand aside with the TFG with all possible support.
The prime minister also said the international community is prepared to help the people and the country, while the African nations assumed to send extra AU forces to create a peaceful atmosphere in Somalia as Somali army is in battle against Al Shabaab in the south and central Somalia.
The comment from Prime Minister, Farmajo comes after United Nations Security Council agreed public support for the transitional federal government of Somalia whose forces are waging fierce fighting from Al Shabab rebel group who control many swathes of the Somalia’s war-torn state.
