– David Gikaria, a Member of Parliament for Nakuru East is facing charges of theft and destruction of property
– He was accused of committing the crimes while disputing land ownership with the town’s Mayor
– Gikaria was said to have stolen 300 wheelbarrows, pipes and destroyed property perimeter wall
A Nakuru county Member of Parliament appeared before a court in the town after being accused of theft and destruction of property.
According to HiviSasa, David Gikaria, the legislator for Nakuru Town East stole 300 wheelbarrows, 500 Y-12 pipes and four water tanks all valued at KSh 2 million.
He also participated in the destruction of a perimeter wall of a disputed land.
The Naka land has been a reason of contention between the MP and the town’s Mayor, Mohammed Surraw.
Surraw claimed ownership of the property.
The case was however adjourned to September 1, after the prosecution told the court they were not ready to proceed with the case.
This is because they did not have witnesses to produce in court.
“Gikaria’s file was presented to the Director of Public Prosecutions for perusal and is yet to be made available to me,” added Pascal Mbeche, Gikaria’s lawyer.
