BELET-WEYN – More of the fighters of Al-shabab forces had surrendered to the forces of Shabelle Valley administration fighting against Al-shabab fighters in Hiran region in central Somalia, official said on Thursday.
Mohamed Nor Aga-jof, the information minister of the Shabelle Valley told reporters that they had welcomed many more fighters from Al-shabab militants who decided to join their forces.
He said 15 of Al-shababab militants came to them explaining more that they were the young teenagers of Hiran region who were mistaken by Al-shabab earlier and encouraged them to take part what Al-shabab called Jihad (Islamic war).
“They were 15-18 and they were from Al-shabab, every body knows the problems of Al-shabab. They kill, slaughter the people aimlessly. We had welcomed these as we shall welcome the future ones. We wait more others to leave from them,” said the information minister
Asked about how he could confirm whether the gangs were Al-shabab or else, he said they would display them in parts of Hiran region for the coming hours and there is no comment from Al-shabab fighters so far.
