Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia rebel group of al Shabab on Friday detained two officers working for the International Committee of the Red cross ICRC in Baidoa, some 245-KM south of Mogadishu, capital of Somalia.
Residents in Baidoa told RBC Radio that al Shabab fighters went to ICRC office in the town, which is the biggest in the southern regions of the country and took out the two officers.
The two officers also Somali citizens were named Abdulkadir Dafiya and Mahad Sagarey.
The ICRC office in southern Somalia confirmed the arrest but did not yet give any details.
Al Shabab group, allied to al Qaeda already banned from aid agencies to operate in the country, but ICRC remained in much parts of south and central Somalia to provide medical assistance to the main referral hospitals in the capital, Mogadishu.
The agency also supports health posts in some southern districts in the country.
