SOMALIA: PDRC officer gunned down in Garowe

Garowe (RBC) Armed men shot today an officer working for Puntland Development and Research Centre PDRC in Garowe, the capital of Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland.

RBC Radio correspondent says the assassination took place in the centre of the town near the regional administration office where many government offices also locate.
“Heavy gun fire was heard in the centre of the town and after few minutes we saw Mr. Yasin killed and was laying on the ground”, said local resident who spoke to RBC Radio with anonymity condition.
It is unclear the reason of his killing. The perpetrators were not captured and soon left the area sources confirmed.
Mohamed Yasin was the administration officer of PDRC which is local Non-Governmental organization based in Garowe. The centre involved peace activities in the war-torn country of Somalia especially the northern eastern regions of Puntland.
PDRC officials in Garowe did not give any comment about the killing.
