Mogadishu (RBC) Al-shabab militias in Wanlaweyn district of the Lower Shabelle region have detained and then sentenced 15 years in jail to 9 doctors and nurses on Thursday.
The doctors and nurses were arrested last week while they were helping the displaced people in Celasha biyaha in the outskirts of the restive Somalia capital, Mogadishu.
They were taken to Wanlaweyn district which is 90-KM south of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia to appear Al-Shabab owned court their.
The court today announced that the doctors and the nurses will each be jailed 15 years.
It is unclear for the cause of their arrest but reliable sources say Al-Shabab blamed the doctors to be serving foreign agencies.
The al-Qaeda allied group of Al- Shabab last year banned twenty agencies from the country that led serious health and life condition in the south and central Somalia.
